Just watching the Great north Run BBC 1 - the Red Arrows will be flying over in few mins in tribute to Jon Egging who died - his widow is running in the race - how brave....
Good for her, and the wonderful Red Arrows, have seen them many times, when they flew over London once, with the Red, White and Blue Vapour trails blazing, that was some sight.
They came to Dover a while back - the cloudbase was too low for them to perform the full show, but it was still great to see them - and as em says, the colour vapour trails are splendid.
Jon Egging's wife is an amazing young woman! I watched her being interviewed this morning. She was so strong and seemed such a dedicated, lovely young woman. While it is a touching tribute to her husband that the red arrows will do the peel off, my heart goes out to her as this cannot be easy for her so soon after Jon's death. Great to see tham back flying!
I couldn't take my eyes off her face while she watched the flypast at the start of the race - she was so composed, I wouldn't have been able to do that, she is amazing but wonder how she is really feeling deep down .......must be so hard for her to see them without him flying alongside. Will watch the "missing man" formation over the Tyne bridge in about 20 mins time .......
