iTunes updates

I have been using iTunes for years now to download music onto my iPod, without any problems. Recently, each time I receive an update from them, it loads so far then stops. I have no idea how to remedy this problem and can't find anywhere to get advice. I just wonder if anyone has encountered this problem and could help me. Thank you in advance.

Sorry, Milvus, I have been out a bit recently and haven't had the chance to check back for answers. The problem is in updating iTunes when Apple send me them. Thank you.

Try downloading a fresh complete version of iTunes.
Go to your applications folder and drag the iTunes application to the trash. Go to http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/ and click the download button. This will load a complete new version. This should not affect your iTunes library but a backup is always worthwhile
