I love this track, it's been used in the end credits of Napoleon Dynamite and in Mary & Max and it's one of those songs that just evokes happy feelings in me.
However, it's now been sampled by Leona Lewis in her latest song which has subsequently been used as back ground in the X Factor which means it's going to be over played and possibly destroy the love I have for it.

Are there and songs that, for you, have been destroyed due to sampling in pop songs?

I'm not gonna disagree with that! Poor ol' Snow Patrol!
Hasn't that song been used in an ad campaign recently?

I don't think any song has been ruined for me it just reminds me how damn good the original was.

Thie hit has nothing what ever to do with the guy mumbling over it - the apeal is all in the quirky bass and drums sampled off Andrea True's 'More More More' - without the framework of a previous hit, this would be nowhere at all - as proved by their failrue to have another hit - stolen or not.
Sampling in itself can be an art with even the bigger acts using it.

Also it can be a launchpad for previously unknown acts....ask Dido.
The track "don't stop believing" in my opinion was ruined by Glee x
Mattk - a fair point, and Dido did find a large dollop of publicity when Dr Dre sampled her song - but that was a sample used to back a track - not to be the entire hook and appeal of the song, relying on a previous hit. In fact, Dido got a hit off Eminem's sample - now that's more like it!
and lets not even go there with Rolf Harris' rendition of Stairway to Heaven.
Booldawg - that's not sampling, that's a cover version - completely different scenario.

Rolf's version came about because of an Australian TV show - details here -
