speeding is the biggest cause of car crashes????
36 Answers
whys is it that, it's always speed that causes car crashes, when truly it isnt, yes speeding reduces reaction time, and yes, going around bends faster than physics allow, but, it's never mentioned, that driving dangerously slow, pulling out at crawling speed when there is oncoming, some including that and hesitating and stupid maneuvers is a huge factor, why is that

Totally agree with you joko, he seems to be making it up as he goes along,
It,s not speeding ( meaning exceeding the speed limit) that causes deaths, is going to fast at the wrong time and in the wrong place, I have never heard of any one killing another driver for driving to slow, another of his relavations, but never mind he has a lot of experience but what qualifications?

"inappropriate speed" by definition causes almost all accidents.
If an accident occurs someone has been unable to stop in time and by definition they were travelling too fast for the circumstance.
So unless someone has died at the wheel or it's a mechanical failure you can pretty much blame excessive speed for any accident.
But it's not a really helpfull argument.
I don't have much time for the "someone driving dangerously slow" argument or even the dangerous manoevre.
Someone could have a front tyre blow out or something like that at any time and if you're not driving with enough care to be able to cope with the unexpected you're a poor driver.
There is an unfortunate group of idiots who seem to think the mark of a good driver is being able to "handle a car at speed."
Public roads are no place to be "driving on the edge"
They also seem to think the cause of all the accidents is Grandpas driving too slow and getting in their way.
I do hope you're not one of their number.

i worked for a company that had a police contract for recovering & storage of accidents, both fatal & non-fatal, the one thing i learnt very quickly was wear a seat belt !!! saw more than one fatal that could have been avoided by wearing a belt..
The other statistic that came to light was a majority of male accidents was down to being a pratt, showing of,unable to handle the car, speed eTc.
females - just basic lack concentration ie school run, shopping, we had many whereby a woman had pulled straight out of a Tescos or similiar straight in front of another vehicle often with fatal consequences.
Young drivers was another matter kids in ST150,s are not a good combination, lack of experience, we have 2 in our bodshop now both front ends, too fast, braking to late or unable to read the road..

what? more incomprehensible words...
try to write in a way that gets your meaning across properly - remember you are online, and we cannot see your face, hear your tone or just 'get' what you are saying....
the point is the other factors ARE often mentioned and people have accidents at all speeds
who are all these people who never mention it? how would you know that no-one ever mentions it?
Again, there is no point here

it doesn't mean my point is nonsense, even if i am wrong. i will agree, maybe i should take time to write out my post though.
i mean if they were aware they know that driving is having others and your life involved, so it is important to take extra care when driving.
maybe it doesn't have anything to do with it, but uk roads are a lot better than in Ireland, and all i know is there needs to be an improvement over here
