Well our holiday around the Gower did not go as expected, from leaving home on Friday it only stopped raining for about 1 hour. On Sunday we were at Caerphilly to see the castle, we sat in the car park for 2 hours reading the papers, waiting for it to stop, it stopped so we went round the castle, it rained again. We also went to designer village at Bridgend, apart from that we only drove from campsite to campsite. What a washout so today we decided we have had enough, time to come home instead of Friday. Does it ever not rain in Wales?

We've been to Wales a few times years ago - to Anglesey and Aberporth and both of those we were washed out and the year we visited Snowdon we couldn't see for fog! ....... its such a shame as Wales is beautiful but we give it a wide berth now. Its strange that the East Coast is now better for weather when years ago it used to be the West Country. We are only 75 miles from the East coast we just wish it had better scenery although the beaches are lovely (good sand) at Sutton on Sea, Sandilands and Huttoft. If you caravan carandrog and have no children we can recommend a great adults only site just outside Sutton. Just ask ......
Hi Welsh, what do you think about the designer village, I was notm impressed by the prices, everything seemed so expensive, I was really excited to see there was an M & S but didn't see anythng I was interested in to even look if they had my size in it. So for the first time on holiday I didn't treat myself to something.
Hello Carol - sorry you were rained off. I spent many of my childhood and teenage years holidaying in Wales. I even asked Father Christmas for a wet suit one year. No need to have done that really - all my clothes were wet in the end. But the grass is beautifully green and the lakes, rivers and waterfalls well topped up. Into every Welsh lifetime a lot of precipitation must fall ☺
Hunstanton is a bit too tacky now - changed a lot in recent years as have Mablethorpe and Skegness, all Bingo, burgers, chips and plenty of pond life walking about! Huttoft Beach just down the coast from Sutton on sea has a promenade, its a tiny place (no shops or amusements) where you can park facing the beach watching the sea, reading a book, with tea in a flask and can walk a few yards from your car and sit on the beach if the sun shines! The simple pleasures in life are often the best ............
Love the Gower, Welsh. We took the kids there for about 10 years when they were growing up, even though we had sworn we wouldn't be the sort of family who went to the same place year in year out!
Loved it because it was so safe, could let them explore the dunes on their own, they have so many happy memories.
We still go back every couple of years, and as soon as we get to Penclawdd and see the marshes my heart lifts:-)
