What to get my Nephew visiting from New Zealand

Hi All

Not been on a while.. lifes been a bit busy!
Got 19yr old nephew staying at moment. Not seen him in 15 years!
We kind of lost touch a bit when he was about 9 and I would like to make it up to him a bit by getting him a nice present to take back home. I think his family are quite poor as the Mum has 3 jobs and struggles to make ends meet. They dont have a computer in the house or broadband either as too expensive.
I thought about getting him an ipod - as I know he would love to watch movies on it on the very long flight home (which he is already dreading despite only arriving 2 days ago!).
However.. I doubt an ipod is much use without a computer to upload songs to is it really!
Do you know anyone that has an ipod and no PC?
Maybe he would still like one and could use a friends itunes selection to put songs on his ipod?
Opinions please?

u could always get him the ipod and go to the local libary to update it as i no alot of libaries have itunes installed now

We have a mac at home.. so he could load it all up here in UK with songs and videos from our collection.. but being 19 I am sure he will want to add songs of his own back home.
I guess if his mates have a PC he could basically 'copy' their music collection.. and you dont need a PC to charge it up either!

i don't think you can use other peoples itunes accounts to sync onto an ipod

yer thre are plenty of ways to top it up like u said going to a mates house access to a pc nowadays is quite easy so he shouldnt have a problems a ipod sounds like a good idea :)

surely you can just plug your ipod into any PC... you just end up wiping OVER whatever collection you had on there!
My mum did it with my itunes when she bought an ipad as she wanted to try it out before flying home

I thought I could put some movies on it for him to keep entertained on flight home - he watched all the movies on the way over and the same films will be shown going back! Plus add some games on there.. Could keep him entertained!

arguably you dont have to update it every 5 mins either.. as long as you are happy with the music on there... you can leave it as that til you want to add to it!

the music stays on ure ipod from what u had on there before and u just add onto what uve got, it shouldnt wipe over it as mine doesnt wen i plug it in to other pcs. u may have to by a seperate adapter so he can plug it into the wall though
