does anyone know how plebiscita and the government today are related???

Erm, at a guess I would say legislation which is pushed through government and made law because of pressure from the common people of the land (plebs).


Again only guessing - and I will stand corrected - but perhaps the Anti-Terrorism laws, inciting religious hatred, hunting bans etc.?


If you look at the origins of the concilium plebis, and the plebeian assembly in Roman Law you might find other instances where this could apply.

A referendum on joining the Euro could also be considered a plebiscitum (an appeal to the people outside of government).
A plebicite, is just a referendum isnt it?
