Two birth registrations for same name
I can't mention names as this person is my first cousin but on doing some research into near relatives I found this cousin listed twice. Once in June quarter of 1968 and again in the Mar quarter of 1973. Exactly the same name (with unusual middle name) and same mother's maiden name. Of course, having done family history for some time, I assumed that the first baby may have died and checked death registers but found nothing. In any case at the time of the birth my mother was in touch with this branch of the family and would have known of this event. At the time of first birth the parents were not married but subsequently married in the Dec quarter of 1972. Do you think this prompted a re-entry? Is this possible? I've not come across this situation before so any help would be much appreciated.

Do you mind if I ask you how you research people who may still be living now? One of my goals was to find out if there were members of my family still living that I don't know about but have no idea how to find that out.
You mention the June qtr of 1968 and the May qtr of 1973, where do you view that?
Sorry I am answereing you question with another question.

Thanks everyone for help and good luck missprim with your research. Another way to search for living relatives is through electoral rolls, either at your local library if same area or through 192 (I think that's right, Google it) but you have to pay for that. Most libraries still do Ancestry for free so check them out too.
