Dog-walkers

We have a small front garden, not fenced in.
Why do some people allow their dogs to urinate on my grass? OK, when a dog needs to go, it needs to go but not right underneath my living-room window. What would you say to the owner/walker??
Before anyone says, just fence your front garden in, no thanks.

However I would not let my dogs do it on other people's and if I am walking them past other people's property I keep them on a short lead and away from the edge of the lawns or fences.
when I first moved in all the fronts were open and one guy rather large intimadating sort of guy was in the habit of letting his JR crap any where including my lawn the very day I moved in. I had words with him and got all the usual dogs have to go etc, so I told him that my dog was staying at my sisters till I was settled in but he was very well trained and crapped on command and when he came home I was going to train him to do it on this guys lawn. He wasn't very happy when a very large GSD started to use his lawn as a toilet but much to every body on the estates pleasure he took the hint
I've had the problem with a few dogs on the loose around me. I'm right by a large park but some of them are regulars which must be let out to roam or be habitual escapees - one is a Shar Pei!
I have another dilemma about a couple a couple of door down, lovely people and we say hi to each other. They seem to let their two labs out for a late night wander - I assume to do their business. A few of times I've caught them on my lawn (usually peering out the window when hearing the noise or when a cat comes hurtling through it) doing their business but they have just left it. I was particularly hacked off the last time as I was going to mow my lawn the next day. They must have been able to see it happening too. I hoped it'd "disappear" but not. They have a garden too so it's not like they can't let them out there for their pre-bed poo either.
I'm rubbish at complaining about anything even though they are nice people - he was particularly nice when a local sex attacker struck right by us (I warned him when I heard so he could let his wife know) and he'd noticed I lived on my own and said to knock on if ever I felt worried about anything. Not sure what to do really. I know I should say something but I'm just not a confrontational person.

That's a really good idea actually as there are so many strays! If I mention dogs have been crapping on my lawn they might get the hint, oooh good thinking Batman, thank you!
I actually have the Dog Warden numbers (normal and out of hours) stored in my phone with the amount of on the loose dogs I see around here! It's not safe for the dog (busy main roads nearby) and I especially worry about young children and other animals out as you never know. The last time I rang (after about 30 minutes on hold!) they said they wouldn't come out unless the dog was secured!!! Pointless and dangerous, especially after a nasty incident in my local park where a lady was attacked by a dog off lead. I don't dare get close to them, have had to wait to get to my front door before now with one on my lawn once, you just never know.

i used to have a problem with dog walker letting their dogs crap actually on my doorstep and just infront of it !!
i was fuming and put a rather firm note in the window, saying i would follow them home and put it through their letterbox - along with some of my own - if i caught them haha...i also had a dummy camera pointing out the window...my dad almost caught one once but i think they guy spotted my dad watching and waiting for him to dare...
it worked...
some dog owners are utterly disgusting
