Criminal damage
In an effort to get away from the police, someone tried to get over our garden wall; as a result, the brick wall and fence fell down. The offender was arrested for another crime. Is there any compensation available for damage caused, not by the police, but as a result of police involvement, i.e. the perpetrator was attempting to escape from police officers and dogs.

Criminal damage does not require the offender to deliberately set out to cause damage it also includes damage caused recklessly.
