Daughter's hand
10 Answers
Thing 1 has got a nasty 'gouge' on the heel of her hand. She has fallen over and re-cut it several times this week (three times today). I have put plasters on it (but they don't stay on) and I have put a dressing on it and attached it with some of the white, sticky, medical tape but that didn't stay on either. Any ideas on how I can protect it so it can actually heal over? Thanks.

It's not a bad cut, she just keeps hitting it in the same place every time she falls. She is so clumsy that I take plasters with me wherever we go. I will send himself to get some small bandages in the morning (didn't know if a bandage would be overkill). Will probably have to cut the bandage down as she is titchy. Thanks for your answers.
Where did you put the tape? I've dressed loads of wounds like that one (when I was in charge of first aid in a school). The only way to do it is to use tape all round the hand, both above and below the thumb.
This illustration is actually to a specialist dressing which is inappropriate to your situation (because it's American, it's expensive and it's an adult size) but it still shows what you're aiming to achieve:

Hi all - it doesn't need a stitch (I hope), she just keeps hitting the same bit on stones, etc when she puts her hands out to save hself when she falls (boy #2 and other daughter are hyper-mobile so maybe she is too).
I put the tape above and below her thumb but the little 'darling' wouldn't leave it alone. I may put a bandage on it and them wrap barbed wire around it too to be on the safe side.
