Windows Live Photo Gallery error code 0x8007006f ???
3 Answers
SO annoying. I'm a BIG photo fanatic and I'm constantly editing my photos using my trusted Windows Live Photo Gallery.
I was clearing out some photos, NOT using the photo gallery, just normal folders, deleting away, some photos had incredibly large names and my computer couldn't handle moving or deleting them. When I finally managed to, after a while, it was sorted.
I went to edit some pictures later on and suddenly I get this message: "Windows Live Photo Gallery encountered an error and can't start. Error code: 0x8007006f"
WHYYYYYYYYYY?? I've tried for DAYS now to fix it. I've tried Windows Repair, I've uninstalled the software individually, I've uninstalled ALL Windows Live software, restarted, reinstalled, NUMEROUS times, I've re-named the Pictures.pd6 file to OLD_Pictures.pd6 so that the database resets, I've disk cleaned, disk defragmented, I've tried EVERYTHING.
Any suggestions, PLEASE?? Thank you so much xXx

(although it's a .pd5 file, rather than a .pd6 one which is referred to there). It's entirely not clear as to whether you've tried the second fix, or the user contributions offered below (some of which seem to have worked!)
However your post must be considered to be a rarity, as it precedes the word 'Microsoft' with 'trusted'! Anyone who trusts Microsoft products has either been very lucky in the past or has simply never tried the much better products available elsewhere.
An excellent free picture viewing, sorting and editing program (offering basic editing features):
http://www.irfanview.com/
Google's own much-praised freebie:
http://picasa.google.com/
The free (but fully-featured) version of an outstanding commercial program:
http://www.serif.com/...ware/?MC=FSSPHOTOPLUS
As good as (but also as complex as) the full version of Photoshop:
http://www.gimp.org/
(That's an 'industry standard' product, of the type used by advertising agencies, etc, with quite a steep learning curve if you mean to get the best from it. If you download the program, make sure that you download the documentation as well).
