A mate of mine has an Acer Aspire 5553 . It was set to backup automatically every Sunday morning when he bought it so the D drive has filled up almost completely . How can I get it back to a normal recovery drive in case we need to do a restore in the future? He didn't make recovery discs when he bought it

Delete the backups?

Look in the backup software to see if the backup data type can be restricted to important stuff only.

It's Windows 7 backup. There's about 140GB of data which is taking up nearly all of the drive so surely I will have to delete that first? but then how do I go about making a backup to use in the future
There's not a lot of point backing up to the D drive on the laptop anyhow. the D drive will be a second partition on the same physical drive as the C drive, so if the drive dies you lose your origional data and the backups!

Get an external USB hard drive and backup to that instead.
