Genuine UK Armed Forces penfriends
5 Answers
Does anyone know where I can find genuine UK Armed Forces penpals? I am currently not working and have a lot of time on my hands & I would love to write letters to those posted overseas. All the websites that I have found tend to be dating orientated & that is not what I am looking for - any ideas?

Hi Chessman - that would be great, I would love it if you could see if any of them would love to write. I have started a MSN group called UK Armed Forces Pen Friends, so they can contact me there or via yourself, whatever is easier. Please could you make it clear though I am not after a boyfriend just genuine snail mailers.
Hi pitstopbunny, finally got a reply back from my nephew, he says probably not suitable for his lot, as all their interested in is sex and beer, he does suggest though, that you put an advert in the 'Sixth Sense' paper, which gets distributed on all operational tours, also to get in touch with 'BFBS' forces radio, you can google those. sorry I couldn't be more help.
You could try Soldier magazine too. I actually met my husband through the Sun newspaper. They did an article asking to send letters and cards to the forces who would be away from home at Christmas in 1996. One address stood out and I wrote a letter. My, now, husband replied and we married 9 months later. We've been married for 8 years. Check the daily papers letters page. Sometimes squaddies write to them looking for penfriends.
