Who are the stakeholders in an infant school; have got parents, staff, governors, Local Authority. Also thought of children and local community (not sure if they count?) any others I'm missing?
I would include the children as the main stakeholder and include the local community too (parent and toddler groups, etc). I personally think the order which you place them in will probably say quite a bit about your priorities (so the order is up to you!). Don't know if you want to include the junior school(s), depends upon the local situation I suppose. What about any local nurseries/playgroups? (Please just use anything I give you as ideas, not gospel!)
What about the PTA - just thought of them. You need to think of everyone who feeds into the school and everyone the school feeds into (if you get what I mean, I am getting confused by teaching applications and my business studies).
Thank you! Thought it might go down well if I put emphasis on children but wasn't sure of the definition of stakeholder in education terms! Hadn't thought of other settings, good thinking!
To my mind, if you think about your particular school and then think about the groups who have something at stake if it does well/badly then you should have it covered. It is probably straight forward, but does the school in question do anything different - is it known for its SEN department, does it do lots of out of hours stuff, etc? Good luck, so glad I am not in your shoes anymore.
If I remember back to my PGCE days, a stakeholder is anyone with a vested interest in the school's performance, so all the the people you've mentioned would be legitimate.
As Sherrard says, it's a good idea to think about any particularly strong links the school has, such as any church or faith groups.
Thanks saxy-jag; they're not a church school but the head did mention that they have strong links with the community. I only have to do a short presentation so will see how I get on!
