LEGAL RIGHT OF BIRTH INFORMATION
will try to make it short! Was adopted in 1968.. just started to look for birth info. Recieved original birth cert, and had meeting to receive my adoption file. Problem is the woman named as bio parent...is claiming she did not give birth to me. It was someone else (who i can not trace but was named as a friend on my file) She is saying they swapped names!!!! I do not believe her story. Everything points to her...I even apparently have a full sibling sister who was also given away and now a father name on file...both of which birth records are on genes united !! But she is adament and will not budge. But i have so much info in file i cant see how it could be someone else lying and telling social services all this.
I am livid that social services can not prove if they have right info or not!!!!! No proof of identity is req when registering a child birth today...let alone 40 years ago...(how is this possible when you need id to take a video out of blockbusters?)
Where do I stand by law...can i force her to give dna proof as her name is on a legal birth document and they have lied... because she has refused. Can I insist that social services sort this out..and take the matter any higher so that they have a legal responsibility to provide correct adoption information to me?
I am in such a state I dont know where to go from here... and there is no one alive now who can identify her.
Please someone help?? x
thank you x

You will just have to come to terms with the fact that she is saying what she's saying, which may or may not be true, as it's her word against your hunch that she;s lying. If you are noit careful you will start obsesing about it and it will take over your life, so please try to put it behind you and accept that this lady can't help you for whatever reason.
I can't offer you any legal advice but in terms of support I would recommend you contact Norcap. They're a charity who help all parties involved in adoption. They have very experienced counsellors who may be able to help you. They also run support groups and publish regular newsletters where members share their stories. You're not on your own, I was adopted in 1964 and Norcap helped me but I was lucky and had a good reunion.

thank you all, i am obsessing about it but only cos i dont have the truth. I do NOT want a reunion, but apparently i am supposed to have a full sibling sister who I do want to meet. Someone somewhere is accountable if this error or lack of identity was made. I didnt just arrive with a stork...somone gave birth to me and all i want is for someone to say yes, it was me and this is what i did and why. Then i can move on because i have peace of mind. I consider myself very lucky because if i could have chosen my mum and dad i would have chosen them for myself. They were the most amazing people and i idolized them as they did me. I just need to know my rigins for my ow peace of mind. Social services really need to review the adoption system tho if they can not prove...when a baby is handed into care that the mother identity is valid. This is so wrong!
