I have not been abroad for 15 years and appreciate that things have changed because of 9/11 etc but I want to make sure that I am not having my leg pulled. I have been given a plastic bag in which I have been told to put the contents of my make up bag and sponge bag so that Customs officers can see what I am taking out of the country. Is this correct or am I just extremely gullible??
http://www.direct.gov...avelintheUK/DG_078179 this should explain a lot. But as already suggested you may find it easier to put majority of liquids into the hold luggage. (pop this into a plastic bag as well just incase it leaks)
Have had this discussion with (female) colleagues in work who were a tad miffed that they wouldn't be allowed to take the usual contents in their vanity cases.
I am often perplexed that people feel the need to take make-up etc on a flight, particularly a short one!
That's not a dig at you devadiva, just an observation.
You don`t have to put the contents of your make up bag as such. Just liquids, creams etc (due to the liquid bombers, not 9/11). None of them can be in containers more than 100 ml and there can only be a maximum of 1 ltr total. That`s only for cabin baggage though, not what goes in the hold.
