'companies are rubbing their hands in anticipation'
not to keep warm I bet!
HI Stoke, where have you seen this - is it just going to be really cold or is it going to snow? (Need to organise myself if we've got snow coming - I am crap at driving in it.) Thanks.

hi sherrard...check out the daily mail website..
Thanks for that Stoke - better get himself to pull his finger out and get my wood burning stove in sharpish (sod his customers, they can wait for their stoves).

lol sherrard..........
The energy company hedge for weather.
So they don't gain too much from cold weather in the same way they don't hav too much loss in warm weather.
They gamble on weather averages on the exchanges , buy buying and selling above average temperature days.
So if the weather is colder than average they loose on the deal ...but sell more energy.
If the weather is warmer than average they win on the deal but sell less energy.
Thus they have a known income.
My central heating has just packed up :-(
Central heating! I've got the fan on here. The hot flushes keep me glowing constantly at the moment.
lol Jan I'm way past hot flushes.................
Wish I was craft. I get cold so turn the fan off and 2 minutes later I'm hot again! Got a fan in the bedroom as well which I have on all night.
I must admit Jan that since the menopause I've never had a winter weight duvet on the bed.............the summer one is on year round.
Lol, I spend all night throwing it off and then pulling it back on again. I don't actually have a summer one, perhaps it would be a good idea to get one.
I hope the forecasters are wrong - actually I am praying they are!
Due to issues with planning department, our renovation project is 6 months late .. which means we have moved into caravans last week, and will be in over winter (a toddler, and a 13 year old who has ME).
It is supposed to be a life changing experience for us all, but I am starting to get real worries now!
We do at least have central heating and double glazing, but the kids are already saying it's cold. We are off out today, to buy everyone an extra blanket!
