Good day everyone!

I hope everyone is well. A few bits a bobs to make you aware of this week:

1. We've had a few comments about the site being slow recently. I haven't noticed it personally, but I have asked the technical team to consider taking a little while to optimize after the next update. I'll keep you aware of further developments, and please offer feedback if you notice anything in particular being slow.

2. I'd appreciate a few thoughts and votes on this poll: http://www.theanswerb.../Question1057107.html (vote early, vote often)

3. Know anyone having issues with posting answers on AB? They probably need to upgrade their browser from Internet Explorer 6, there's a guide here: http://www.theanswerb...our-internet-browser/

4. You may have noticed the poll early in the week dedicated to Christmas shopping, you can still discuss it here: http://www.theanswerb.../Question1056817.html In other C-word related news, I've fixed the Christmas section: http://www.theanswerb...k/Seasonal/Christmas/ it is now perfect.

Thanks for your time,

Ed.

I dream of 6900kbps! A neighbour gets more than 6000 - I've just run a test & I've got 2160, which at least is more than 2000 for once... :-((

I've tried both FF & Chrome & AB is the only slow site.
I dare not post my speeds then or there will be more than a rumble in the jungle LOL
Grrrrrrrrrr...........
I get on average 300 and earlier this week it was 48 (slower than dial up). TalkTalk got a right snottogram I can tell you. I'm just not sure it's reached them yet ;-)
Hi L-i-K.....I am with BT for my Broadband and was always getting over 5000 until about two moths back when, for no apparent reason,it dropped to below 1000. Upon my contacting the service provider (via India of course) it was deemed that I had a faulty Router and I was sent (free of charge) a new up-dated one, which made no difference. Consequently, it was then suggested that I had an internal cable fault, because my computer is operating on a telephone extension socket.

The outcome was (again free of charge) a Technician visited me,established with sophisticated equipment that all cabling from my computer to the telephone exchange could support up to 8000kbps and that my 'profile' needed to be re-set in the telephone exchange.

Profile was duly altered to 7150 and since then I have been getting speeds well in excess of 6000.( Max. has been 7100.) Accordingly, I am happy with my lot and have a spare Router in the bargain.

Ron.
Hi Ron - thanks, apparently my profile was altered...

A call in the morning should uncover the truth :-)
Give 'em a good roar, LiK....
Prudie....I think ChuckFickins on one occassion indicated what was considered to be the minimum speed to call it Broadband and I think the figure was in excess of what you are getting.

It might be worth your posting something in the 'Technology' section of AB and seeing what the experts have got to say on the matter.

Ron.
