Has anyone tried this site. They are offering free tunes to download. When I went to download it my Norton protection doesn't recognise it and indeed says that I am the first Norton User to wish to download it.

Dodgy or am I a trailblazer????

Bearshare is a P2P program, much like Azureus, utorrent, Limewire and the like. It makes claims to only share content legally, but given that (in general) no money changes hands I find this hard to believe.

If you want to illegally download music, there are probably better options.

If you want to break the law by illegally downloading music then you take the risk of installing dodgy, virus ridden software to do so.

That's just it Le Marchand I don't want to download illegally. I posted on here over a week ago saying that I can't get my ITunes account to allow me to buy tunes and got no answers.

Have you tried amazon chrissa?. They are great for downloading albums or individual tracks, they have a really large and varied collection too. On the whole they work out cheaper than itunes.

I used to use this site, but the tunes are usually not the ones you want - they're more like cover versions, or recorded at concerts etc.....
And you can't download anything still under copyright.
Oh, and you will also come across lots of pop-ups from strange women offering their services.......

It must be a really dodgy thing, unless of course the company are being their usual knee jerk, can't risk anything overreactive selves. And surely they can't be doing that.

I found the ste on Internet Explorer Old Geezer. They use Babylon don't they?

I don't think the browser makes much difference. The company uses IE but if I want to search I go to the Google site out of habit.

That's what I said, the company wouldn't even let me Google it. The McAfee Web Gateway URL Filter Database blocked it.

Chrissa: can't help on iTunes; never used it for a variety of reasons.

What OG is saying is that his company consider Bearshare's site so iffy that they totally block access to it. A good rule of thumb is that if you are getting FREE music downloads, it's probably illegal. As someone else stated, Amazon seem fine to buy tracks from.

I've solved the problem. I've opened another ITunes account using a different e mail address.
