Hi Bobbi - I don't know about alpacas (as cute as they are), but I fell in love with a llama last year! A friend and I went llama trecking in the lakes to celebrate our b'days and our llama (Rico) was just great - a great big cuddly thing and they don't spit at you like people say, he was perfectly well behaved and I was so sad to leave him at the end of the day. My friend had his picture put on a mug for me and framed a large photo too! I think of him often (lol).
Hi Joy,how are you.
My son in law has 4.They are really cute and good watchdogs.
My recent avatar was a pic of the youngest one.Their wool is quite valuable,
but you need an awful lot to make any money.
Regards Dave.
They are gorgeous Bobbi, but llamas are just like big alpacas !! What surprised me was that their fur was so soft too. It would be nice to have loads of land to keep all these lovely animals on wouldn't it?
Bobbisox - am I right in thinking you're in the North East? My sister lives in that part of the world and one of her friends has got 3 alpacas - they are lovely! She got them to protect her hens from the foxes (I think). When she gets the wool ready, my mum knits it into various garments (depends on the patterns her friend sends my mum). Lovely and warm
