Things my Grandma used to say
24 Answers
I was lucky, I had my wonderful Grandma around until my 40's. I wish I'd asked her more about her life, but I remember her telling me about going to see the silent movies and her favourite being Pearl White and the Clutching Hand which used to scare her half to death! She also told me she was a 'tomlad' and loved to climb trees and didn't like girly things. Do you remember things your Grandma told you?

When I was a kid, we used to go to the creek at Canvey Island with my nan.We used to go 'cockling' and then take them home and cook and eat them. Lovely. But one thing I do remember her saying to us littl'uns was " mind you don't slip and fall in the mud"(in the creek), before she promptly fell backwards herself. Then we had to clean her down best we could before going home on the bus.And what did she say? Oh bugger, I've only just had this coat cleaned!!!! She was indeed a lovely nan, I was very lucky to have her in my life.
Thank you for all your lovely tales of your Grandma/Nan. I think it is such a special relationship and although mine have been dead for many years now, I always think of them fondly and with much love. Treasure them if you still have them.
Buenchico - thank you for posting that. It seems strange watching something my Grandma used to watch regularly in her heyday. Not scary at all by today's standards, but I always remember my Grandma telling me how much it used to scare her.
