The Oxford Book of Christmas Poems has an amazing selection.
I like "Before the Paling of the Stars" by Christina Rossetti.
" The Oxen" by Thomas Hardy.
" Journey of the Magi" T.S.Eliot
among others.

John Donne 1572, one of the earliest Christmas poems.

Nativity a Christmas Poem.

Make it Snow !

Immensity cloistered in thy dear womb,
Now leaves His well-belov'd imprisonment,
There He hath made Himself to His intent
Weak enough, now into the world to come;
But O, for thee, for Him, hath the inn no room?
Yet lay Him in this stall, and from the Orient,
Stars and wise men will travel to prevent
The effect of Herod's jealous general doom.
Seest thou, my soul, with thy faith's eyes, how He
Which fills all place, yet none holds Him, doth lie?
Was not His pity towards thee wondrous high,
That would have need to be pitied by thee?
Kiss Him, and with Him into Egypt go,
With His kind mother, who partakes thy woe.
I love 'The Night Before Christmas' sorry can't remember who wrote it now, but I heard it as a child and still love it now, and so do my grandchildren!..
^^ Clement Clarke Moore. It, more than anything else, created the Christmas cliché that haunts the Western world from about now until the end of December...
Ask again in 6 weeks
sorry Mark, still love it!.......
Clement Clarke Moore in 1822 and you can also judiciously convert this one for some extra laughs with the children (kids or adult).
No need to apologise, Welshi, but that poem essentially created the secular Christmas...
Mark is right, one of the "influences"
Mark, you're probably right!......but I love to see my granchildren's faces when I read it to them ev ery Christmas Eve!......Lush!...

A friend of mine wrote this one some years ago.

I love you,
You love me,
So go and f*ck,
A christmas tree.

Would this be suitable for your social gathering?
'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse...

etc.
LOL @ Boxy.
Depending on how much time you have, I always feel this one has a good message:
