laptop heating up underneath
5 Answers
Is this ok? Will this eventually ruin the laptop?
I know they get hot, but should I be doing anything to cool it down?
I use it on a lap tray so it gets tiny bit of air circulation but the rubber pads are very low so it doesn't really get much.
I lift it slightly sometimes to increase the air circulation, but it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference
I know you can buy cooling pads for laptops but I wondered if anyone had any tips first as these pads aren't exactly cheap. (or anyone know where they sell cheap ones?)
Thanks

However, as you said, the lap tray does help, and so does resting each end of the laptop on each leg, so you have a gap in the middle so all the core components (HDD, processor) get some air.
Hope this helps.

I sit mine on a metal trivet, the type you keep in the kitchen for placing hot pans, etc. on. It's now about six years old and still going strong. The worst thing you can do, is to literally use a laptop on your lap. Guaranteed to over-heat.
Also, cheaper, more obscure models tend to be more prone to over-heating.
