Last week i got a phone call at work saying that my wife had to be rushed into hospital for emergency surgery due to an ectopic pregnancy. She had op on Friday morning and came back on Saturday.

I have to say, that this was the most traumatic things I have had to endure. I really thought i would loose her.

I only work 2 days per week, 11 hours per day. I am really worried/scared about going into work incase something happens to her again. I feel queasy at the thought of it.
I work 50 mins from home, so it is a trek for me and we have no family and friends near us.

Has anyone got any constructive advise to help me mentally?

I am going to ring work and i might suggest i go in for about 6 hours rather than the full day. I don't want to take anymore time off work.

Something like this happening again is very very unlikely.
Operation Friday, home on Saturday.....doesn't sound like she ought to be left until Wednesday.
Who is at home with her?......who will cook for her?......abdominal wounds are painful.
I suffered an ectopic pregnancy and was in hospital a good few days, my wound took weeks to heal and my abdominal area was black and blue a good ten days after. I could not lift or hardly walk! Im shocked that the hospital left her go so soon after a major operation.
Any understanding employer will realise that you need to have your two days off this week, even if unpaid. Would it cause you a lot of hardship losing two days pay? Can you have a word with your GP practice and ask if you can have a private certificate saying you are needed at home to be a carer for your wife for the next week?
im so sorry to hear your news. obviously you are concerned, i agree with lofty.
They chuck people out very quickly these days if they think they have someone at home with them. I don't think anything bad is going to happen to her - she has had the op so the same situation can't arise again, but she will need someone there as Sqad says.

I know your family is not near, but would it be possible to take her over to someone in the family just for a week.
me too muchlovex, hope everything turns out well for both of you
Ah! just thought....she may have had a laparoscopic intervention in which case, she should be OK to leave.

If she had a laparotomy ( stomach opened) then my initial post remains.
