Dear AnswerBankers,

We're updating the site this afternoon/evening. It shouldn't require any downtime (and we'll let you know if it does).

The update concerns two main improvements:

1. Search Improvements: We've improved the search to do the following:
a) Allow quick switching between tabs
b) Show better results on the web tab (it's blended Google & Bing results)
c) Separation of adverts from the main results (they're now above the tabs.)

It would be great if you could do some test searches and let us know what you think.

2. Instant Embed: once the update is in place any Vimeo or Youtube link is pasted into a question the video will be embedded into the page, like magic!

I'll let you know when the improvements are live.
Do you mean Bing rather than Bin? I've always thought Bing was an odd choice since to me, a bing is a *** heap

Hi Ed.....I know that AB is now on a run-up to Christmas.

Is this what you mean by Google and Bing.

G'afternoon Ed.......I must be dim because, whilst assuming that the site has been updated, I don't really know what has been done to improve matters.

Ron.
Afternoon Ed - hope I've picked the right black hole to post this in...

Are you aware that several users are still experiencing problems with the video embed feature? It appears to be quite fickle, working now & not then, here & not there. The most recent example would be last night's thread -

http://www.theanswerb.../Question1067580.html

post 26 [trigger] (the most common type of error that occurs) - posts 46 & 47 [me] (not so frequent).

Also, post 51 shows me "Embedding disabled by request - Watch on YouTube" - I get this occasionally, but am unaware if others do as well - is it something I have set (or not), or the fault of another agency?

Oh - off-topic, the logo up there still shows "For Cats in the Know!"...

Thanks for your time,

L-i K
Hi Ed

I agree with Maj, the system is very selective about showing certain videos as embed but allows them to go in the you tube box??

I for one have reverted to the old way as seems to be reliable.
