Birthday decisions
12 Answers
I've come up with two ideas for the OH's birthday next month (if he lives that long!) but am being jolly indecisive!
What do you guys think:-
Option A - I take him away to a lovely hotel eg http://www.handpickedhotels.co.uk/newhall (for no other reason than I like it very much and I know he will like it too) and then surprise him with a trip to Top Gear Live (which he will LOVE). Downside - I have to spend the day feigning interest in cars and have to arrange a chicken/cat sitter.
Option B - I pay for him and his mate to go to Top Gear Live for the day and whilst they are out get someone in to lay the floor which has been cluttering up the dining room for the last 3 weeks (which he has been meaning to do but it is going to end up as another "unfinished" DIY project) which will be a surprise. Downside - I don't get to spend a couple of nights in a swanky hotel, and probably will have to work as a labourer all day.
If it were you would you prefer two nights in a hotel with your loved one or a day out with your mate and coming home to find THAT awful job you have been dreading has been done for you? I think he would like either but I am just being indecisive!
Price wise, there is nothing in it. We both get something nice out of either option too, although option b will take a bit more organising under his nose.

Personally, I would go for option 'B'. He would get a day at Top Gear Live, which you say he will love ( and you would have to endure), and you will then both have the benefit of having your floor finished (a job he doesn't like). I would say that you would both be winners with that decision. You can always have a weekend away together at a later date(albeit a cheaper version, but still together). Option 'B' for me, every time.
It is a seriously lovely hotel, Doc! Although I won't pay that, they are always willing to negotiate on price.
I think he would choose me too, ummmm.
JJ, I know! I love the idea of putting my feet up there for a couple of nights.
I'm wondering if I can get him to do the prep for the floor and then have someone in whilst we are away.

Hi Barmaid,
Both great options so I would go with the one you feel more comfortable with, and if the downside of option A is just pretending how wonderful cars are......that'll be the one I'd go for....as it's for both of you and he'll enjoy having you around i bet. :0) ( I would.........down bear! )
Good luck with whatever option you choose, my lovely, and he's a lucky chappy methinks :0) xxx
