outlook express contacts
18 Answers
I posted recently saying that my contact list had disappeared from the outlook express window pane and when I tried adding a sender to the list it said that they were already on the list. Which they were.
I have now tried to add a sender to the list manually by clicking on CONTACTS, ADD NEW CONTACT and nothing is happening. It's not pop up blocker so does anyone know where my contacts are hiding?

The repair programs only scan and report faults but to remove them you have to pay. I tried the other suggestion but when i go to File I only have an Import/ Export option and that doesn't have import address option , only import favourites, cookies and feed??
Then it looks like there's nothing in the file. If you right-click on it and check properties, the file size should give you a clue. Do yo have system restore in operation ? If so, you could select a suitable restore point and see if that brings back your address book..
Another thing you could try, is start>settings>control panel>add/remove programs then select Internet Explorer and remove. You will then be given the option to repair IE (which also embraces OE)

I took your advice and went to delete internet explorer from the add/remove prog option but the pop up box says removing windows XP can affect some programs from working?
Is this saying that it will delete windows XP or is it just a term they use when deleting internet explorer?
I don't have an XP disk so need to be sure.
Could you have a look on your computer and see what you think. thanks for all the trouble you have taken

Sorry - I should have asked which operating system you have. When I last repaired IE/OE I was on Windows ME and this method worked OK. Windows XP on the other hand, does not appear to have this repair facility.
Did you check the size of the WAB file(s) that you had located ? (There should be one for the Administrator and one for you)
Do you have System restore in operation ?

Ok - Looks like there may be something in the file.
Are you sure that you folled the import procedure correctly ?
The steps should be :-
Open Outlook Express and go to File>import>address book then navigate to c:\documents and settings\your name\application data\microsoft\address book - then select the wab file.
Please report what happens
