I won over £1,000 on a bingo site, and then they wanted age verification, sent a scan of my passport to them and they said that I registered with 01 instead of 15. I explained it must have been a typo, but there not reinstating my account meaning I cant get my money. What are my rights?

You mean you stated 01 as your birthday date rather than 15?

Shouldn't make much difference to the and I've not heard anything like this before. No need to copy passport or prove ID on betting sites for example. I have won on there and they just credit the account, I then with draw the money back to my debit card.

Sure its not a scam? Be very careful and do not give any more personal info.

Well I thought Metro bingo would be pretty safe, i put 01/09/1989 instead of 15/09/1989...
If you're happy its not a scam, email their support dept with a strongly worded request to look into this problem immediatley. The typo doesn't make you under 18 does it? So no reason for them not to pay.

It wasnt my real date of birth. Not that stupid lol & I have they said the fraud squad would look into it... :/ lol

Metro Bingo is run by (or, more accurately, on behalf of) Associated Newspapers, who own the Daily Mail, all of the regional editions of the Metro newspaper and the well-respected 'This Is Money' website. So it's definitely not a scam.

However the firm which runs Metro Bingo (for Associated Newspapers) appears to be actually based in Gibraltar. That makes any threat of legal action tricky. Your best way of dealing with the problem might be to email the news desk of one of the Daily Mail's rivals (such as the Daily Express: news.desk @ express.co.uk ) explaining your problem. (NB: Remember to mention that it's Associated Newspapers who have let you down. Editors love stories which denigrate rival publications!). With a bit of luck they'll shame Associated Newspapers into paying up!

Thanks for your advice, its been a couple of days ill give it a week and then do what you say. :)

Just to let everyone know I have contacted Metro head office, sending a stern letter explaining my mistake, my opinions and what I am willing to do in order to receive that money wether it be to shame the companies themselves into giving me back what in my opinion is rightfully mine. This has put me off online gambling for good, and I shall let you all know how I get on.
