Where shall we go ?

We fancy a coach trip abroad next year, we did the West Coast of USA a couple of years ago ... LA Vegas San Francisco etc. which was amazing. Wondering where to go next. Not really into old buildings and museums but like to see a bit of life. Any ideas ? Not keen on South Africa as I think it could be dangerous but if you know differently please let me know. Has anyone done Italy, would it be lots of museums and old buildings though ?

I would definitely consider the Garden Route around Cape Town, despite what you say. It`s stunning and although there is still a bit of carjacking, I don`t think a coach trip is dangerous. My sister is forever going off on hiking holidays in SA and has never come a cropper! There are some great restaurants (best steaks in the world), good wines and lovely sights.

How about USA again but this time go for the trip down the east side of the mountains from Yellowstone Park to The Gand Canyon. We did it and it was "awesome"! Or the east of USA would be a great trip to do too.

Italy is next on my list as i want to see Venice, Florence and Rome, but there will be quite a bit of history and art. If you're not into that then you'll always be safe from old buldings in USA!.

Canada maybe? Quebec, Montreal, Ottowa and Toronto taking in Niagara as well. Old buildings but a lot of life too. Or head up round the Rockies/Vancouver and get out for some whale watching.

I would agree with Maidup – if you enjoyed your last US coach trip, then the ‘National Parks’ coach trip might interest you. I followed the route in a hire car, booking the flights & hotels myself.

The trip starts in Rapid City, ending up in Las Vegas. Besides Yellowstone, it includes a number of national parks, with impressive scenery on route.

But it is cheaper to do it as a fly drive, with the advantage that if you don’t like a particular location – you can simply move on (rather than be tied to the coach timetable).

the loire valley , taking in Monet's garden......did it a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it...

my mum and dad have just come back from a usa coach trip that started in colorado and took in wyoming, montanna, mt rushmore, yellowstone (i think) utah and grand canyon. They liked it a lot, although for me, there seemed to be a lot of driving and a lot of early starts!

how about the rocky mountains, that would be stunning, whether you went in summer or winter.

Italy is beautiful, i can recommend Amalfi, sorrento, ravenna, drive through Naples, some bits are worth seeing but its a bit of a dump.

Thanks everyone, that's given me food for thought. I know there are a lot of early starts, but you do see so much on a coach trip that you wouldn't if you were driving. We did the Grand Canyon last time, maybe Canada or Italy next then ... watch this space !
