I love fireworks but they really should only be reserved for one night a year.

The muppets round here don't get the irony of using them in daylight either.

Remarkably, not one sparkler yet round our way.....fingers crossed.
Totally agree with you, Lozzer50.
You can use either rescue remedy or Valerian to calm your dogs. Both do work. I have trained mine not to be afraid of the fireworks, by gently coaxing them out into our back garden when the fireworks started going off and showing them I was not afraid. It has to be done carefully, but it worked for me. So far so good, but our Gilligan (on my profile photo) got a shock the other day when a large metal and plastic sign blew over near him when I had him in the car park at Tesco. It very nearly landed on him and the plastic ripped and whipped at him. He has been afraid of loud noises since, so I am not sure how he will be with the fireworks this year. He now hates the hoover, which never used to bother him. I will try the garden tactic with him again this time and also use Valerian. Hopefully this will do the trick. But I do wish they would restrict fireworks to professional displays!

I use zylkene which works as well as anything also Dap diffusers. I have a particular problem as one of the dogs has very acute hearing and can hear and be would up by fireworks that I can only just hear myself. They don't like to bangs but what really drives them crazy are the whistling kind.
I do all the right stuff, am calm and jolly, treat it all as a big bore, reassure without fussing....nothing helps. I have found valerian gives the dogs an upset tum sadly.
