Why does there have to be a little gift in each layer? I remember forfeits in the outer layers, with a small present in the middle. My favourite was "Make a noise like a piece of cheese", I think my Uncle who wrapped that particular parcel took a slurp at each wrapping! Other forfeits could be "dance like a frog", "sing like a squirrel", "say a nursery rhyme", "tell a joke", anything that makes the participants do things will involve everyone!
DocHH, I did that for my daughter, there was a mix of gifts and forfeits. One was a forfeit to kiss the girl/boy on the cheek sitting next to you. They were sitting alternatively. Unfortunately, the little boy who got the forfeit, immediately burst into tears and was very hard to pacify. I had to explain to his Mum when she collected him why his eyes were so red. Pleased to say he is now over his phobia and getting married next year.
