9 across. Clue: Even British Airways facing cut (8). I have: ???A?T?? not sure about the "T".
2 down. Clue: An amusing situation repeatedly found in popular British novels (3,5). I have A?? ???A? the third letter is the same as the second letter of 9 across (see above)

Thank you puding and kayak. Not heard of aga saga(s) previously.
9 across is balanced I think, ba + lanced (cut as in with a lancet). You must have 4 down wrong, it's pecan (sounds like pee can). I'm still stuck on 2 down.
