Mattress

I know perhaps this should go in shopping, but I though I would get a better response here. I am looking to get a new mattress for my bed. I have had my Silentnight Mirocoil one for less than 5 years and to be honest, it has lost its support. It makes a racket when you get in bed or just move and if you sit on the edge of the bed, it literally folds down to nothing.
I definately won't be buying another Mirocoil one but have been looking online this morning and they all seem to have built in Memory Foam, but does this retain heat and make you hot and bothered? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Over recent years many of the big manufacturers have lowered their quality in order to cut production costs. And some manufacturers have just gone too far, making many of their products unreliable. In fact the Miracoil spring system is their own name for a continuous spring system. Many manufacturers used to use this type of spring system, but most have stopped due to them being very unreliable and noisey.
If I were you I would stay well away from big brand names and big retailers if you want a good quality mattress at a low price. Instead go for a smaller independent manufacturer, and buy on line from a retailer who gives a proper satisfaction guarantee, that allows you to unpack and sleep on the mattress.
As far as memory foam goes, the mattresses that are all foam (memory foam on top of reflex foam), can be very hot. You are better off going for one that is sprung with a layer of memory foam on top (or better still a two sided one that will last far longer). Therte are also climate control fabrics available like Climasmart.

My son has a memory foam mattress, and says it's mega comfy. He's always really hot though, whenever I check on him during the night, which I think it down to the mattress.
Little'un has a memory foam mattress topper, which is much better and doesn't seem to be so warm.
I have a bog standard Ikea jobby, which is absolutely fine. It's lost some of it's firmness though, so I wouldn't really recommend them. I like them hard.
