Adobe PDF's problem

I have some old files which are secured as they were bought files. I haven't used them for ages, but were operating normally last time I used them which may have been before my pc upgrade. I am now running Windows 7, and have just tried to use one of these files every time I try, I get the 'not responding' error message. I have downloaded newer PDF's which are not secure and they are opening ok. Any ideas please.

Thanks Chris, but I asked Mr Jules who said he would look at it (now I knew that would happen sometime around the 12th of never) so had a fiddle around with it myself and managed to resolve the issue by opening the documents with protection disabled as I knew that they were ok and virus free. Not a permanent solution I know, but good enough for when I need to use these particular files.
