People have always known me to be dozy or not with it. It really gets me down sometimes, the thing is I have benn to university (i know this doesnt prove automatic intelligence) I studied Graphic Design and gained a BA, but still i feel "thicker" than your average person. for example my mates tell me i don't have any common sense. I was just wondering wether anybody could point me in the right direction as I hate feeling that i am not as good as other people. I am good looking but would swap that for a bit of credibility anyday

I think you have issues of self-confidence, and your 'mates' are certainly not helping.

Try thinking before you add to a conversation - people appreciate someone who holds back a little instead of always having the answers!

I am sure you are more accepted and well thought of than you think - just remind yourself of that fact, and you'll feel more sure of yourself.

Jibjab - please do not be hard on yourself! Perhaps you are just not well organised or do not make the same decisions as others in the same situation. And do not concern yourself as to where you align with other people. For one thing, you'll never figure it out. People are complex and the differences are endless.

We each have good traits and bad, and in varying degrees. Enjoy your diversity. Having studied graphic design, I imagine you are quite creative and thoughtful.

I know the answerbank is not designed to be a religious focal point, but I would like to say that church is a great place to learn where you fit in the world and how you are accepted.

Best of luck to you!

Hey, don't let it get you down. Mr Spudqueen has a Phd, so he's loads of intelligence, but yes, he's sadly lacking in the common sense area. But I still love him!
I have the same problem jibjab! I went to uni for four years, got a degree in law and did a post grad diploma, however I am known by my friends as a dippy blonde! Granted this probably has something to do with not always engaging my brain before I open my mouth but it still gets on my nerves from time to time. Being constantly wound up and put down doesn't do anything for your self esteem but the way you have to think about it is that you are unique. Plus if you were really thick and lacking common sense these people probably wouldn't be your mates - they love you for who you are so please don't feel under pressure to change!
