Em, they're not on the ordinary shelves you have to buy them over the counter, so speak to the pharmacist about any other health concerns. To be honest, I've had tummy problems all my life, but I've never had any side effects at all from taking Crampex. Night cramps often occur intermittently - if my experience is anything to go by you might get bouts for a couple of nights every few weeks - so you don't take them on a regular basis - just when the cramps occur.
Naomi, thank you, its been a few months, but not every evening, though my toes do the same, knot together, and the pain is the same sort of thing, that's been forever.
It's to do with the flow of blood in your leg veins .I have to wear compression socks after a bad bout of cellulitis and a suspected clot .
it won't do you any harm to get it looked at .They just give you an ultrasound to rule out underlying causes of the cramping .
Do you get this while walking ?
Go to the doctors Em .Get them to have a look at your legs .Better safe than sorry .
In the meantime elevate your legs whenever you can .And get something to rub in.
You could try taking Antistax red vine tablets which have the action of opening up the capilliaries and Antistax gel is very good to rub in .Boots do an an own brand version of both .The gel is very cooling on the legs .These contain castania ( horse chestnut) Very good for legs .
Hope you soon feel better .I know what is to have a gammy legs .
Yes I know .Getting older is no fun at times .I'm very arthritic and it keeps me awake of a night .I roll from one hip to another ,then the old knees start throbbing and then the old chap is in and out of the lav :)
Never mind pet .Keep trucking xx
But ..go to the doctors !
Be careful as you jump out of bed with the cramps em, I did just that the other night and finished up on the floor, and also get them in my toes and the sides of my feet, hop and walk round the bedroom until it feels ok nip back into bed and wham here we go again.
Em have you tried Melatonin tablets for your sleep problem? I started taking them in 2005 and they have saved my life. You don't get that horrible drugged up feeling the morning after, as Melatonin is produced naturally by the body. Trouble is as you get older you're less efficient at producing it. I don't take them every night, only when I feel the need. Worth a try em - you can get them on the internet.
