1970's Toy

Does anyone remember GLOOKS? They were small,furry toys.If so, who was the manufacturer?

I don't actually remember these toys even though it is the correct era for me to have played with one! I have 'googled' a few sites to no avail. Were they known by any other name or spelling?

I don't remember a Glook either - but I do a Gonk!! Now they were small furry toys that came in many different colours - late 60's to late 70's. Can't help with the manufacturer though.

Glooks were a palm sized piece of colorful synthetic fur on a stick with a cardboard black 'n white set of eyes and beak [actually 2 O's and a V - the original 3d emoticon?]. Totally cute and about 1p to make, used at fairs and seaside as consolation prizes, manufacture; absolutely anyone's guess anyplace from Taiwan to Tottenham and stops inbetween, you could make your own in a moment after a visit to your local sewing shop (is that what you meant, man utd mrs? :-)

Answerbok..... You are nearly correct. I s'pose that the Glooks I remember may have been based on the Fairground prizes.They were stuffed toys with eyes and a sticky-out nose with loads of synthetic hair to their feet,which were black.They used to come in a cardboard box with (I'm sure) a comb/brush. I WANT one! ;0)

stuffed 3D Posh Glooks with combs in a box? and feet? Luxury. You must be from the south. Northern Glooks never had a comb they were 2D, more like a neon merkin with eyes, that you 'won' instead of a goldfish. No wonder you miss 'em. Did they come with a certificate :-)

i had a glook, he was made of red fur and had a dash of white on his front area, he also had 2 button eyes, and i slept with him and was always combing his hair and placing the fur into different styles.

I know who the manufacturer of Glook was, they were a company in Bradford called Glook International and they were also manufacturers of pencil cases, picture frames etc.... The list goes on.  I know this as my father and Uncle were both Directors!

I remember there were several sizes of Glook. They always reminded me of that Warner Brothers character Yosemite Sam's beard and hairstyle and I used to wonder if that was what their design were based on! I had the 'Baby Glook' when I was about ten, he was six inches tall and had red and black fur. Alas, he's long gone, but I do still have the Glook pencil case I got in 1971! It's made of turquoise fur and has the trademark Glook eyes and nose.

What colour is it?

I've looked for years and years to replace my beloved glook but no success.
Any ideas where to look?

My glook is fawn with a black eye and tash area and a red nose fluffy fur i think i have others in the loft but they were from the fairground so not proper ones

I am clearing out my things as I am moving. I still have a Glook. In his original box. He is bright orange [the box says he is gold], with a black, Malteser chocolate sized nose and two felt eyes. The wording on the box does not state who manufactured him or where he was manufactured. Except that it says "A Bredo Product". It has a black and white photo of 11 Glooks combed in different ways and it states that they were available in red, black, white and gold. They are made of acrylic fibre, which is washable. Hope this helps. Ah, memories!

I have an orange glook on ebay at the moment. They were made in the 60's and 70's by a company in Leeds called Bredo. The factory was owned by two men, Joe Brooks and Malcolm Reid. The name Bredo is a combination of both their names.
