Over heating amp

Hi All,

Further to the last posting about the amp, I have discovered that there are three metal rods standing up from the circuit board, about 70mm long and about 5mm thick. they are spaced about 80 mm apart. they are not connected to any components. the centre rod is getting extremely hot. they have a threaded hole in the top. I am wondering if these should have some sort of heat dispersing plate screwed into the top? I do recall seeing a video player or something with a convoluted grid as a heat shield or disperser. what do you think? could these plates have been left off by the manufacturer.

Are you sure they aren't connected to any of the components (the power transistors or output ICs)? If not, they can't be intended as heatsinks. Heatsinks are genrally either attached to power outputs devices by being clipped on or a bolt through. What do you think is making the centre one hot? - what's around it.
