I'm getting my hair done later in a salon (friend usually cuts it) and I don't know if it's still expected that you should tip the stylist if they do a good job.

Do you?

I've had the same hairdresser for about 15 years. She's been with me through all the ups and downs of my life. On the day I registered my husband's death I was passing the salon and popped in to tell her. She and the salon were lovely to me and the next time I had an appointment I was presented with a bouquet of flowers.
I don't think she would want me to tip her and would probably say no if I did now as she knows what situation I'm in now moneywise.
Tip in cash, even if you pay the bill by debit card.
Its like everything else, if you are pleased with the results then a Tip is in order. Good Hairdo, Good Meal etc then a return visit is on the Cards.
When not satisfied complain !

Well I picked the salon I'm going to because I pass it quite a lot and it always seems fairly busy. Plus they have nice decor and the hairdressers mostly seem to have decent hairstyles themselves.
I go to the Toni and Guy school in central london. They advertise looking for models constantly on gumtree. Takes at least 2 hours, but is cut under very close supervision, and have always been very pleased. Totally free and no tips!
My wife has her hair done every Friday and tips £2.
Every week, dennis?

Crikey!
my mum does as well wash and blow dry...cut every 4 weeks and perm every 12 weeks at least she doesn't have to pay out for colour
I used to ti[ the girl who washed my hair, put a few quid in her apron pocket, the hair-cutter got paid much more so tipped less.
189 quid!!!

You have to be crackers paying that every few months. Do you think you need to spend that to look good?
Lol! I spent it once and never again, I'd gone in for quite a large change in style and colour. And yes, it was by far the best colour I'd ever had and looked great and if I was a millionaire I would happily keep going to her. But I'm not so I won't. :c)

Well I went and she did a good job so I looked in my purse for change. There was none there so I ended up giving her a fiver!
Well, she will hopefully appreciate it, and remember you as a generous tipper.

You'll be well looked after next time.

Think of it as an investment.
yes, but he's worth it. And its never a lot as don't have a lot to spare.
I always tip my hairdresser - even though she owns the shop, and the shampoo girl.
Yes JJ she has a set every week ,really looks forward to it ,I think she enjoys hearing all the local gossip.!!
