I'm getting my hair done later in a salon (friend usually cuts it) and I don't know if it's still expected that you should tip the stylist if they do a good job.
I've had the same hairdresser for about 15 years. She's been with me through all the ups and downs of my life. On the day I registered my husband's death I was passing the salon and popped in to tell her. She and the salon were lovely to me and the next time I had an appointment I was presented with a bouquet of flowers.
I don't think she would want me to tip her and would probably say no if I did now as she knows what situation I'm in now moneywise.
Its like everything else, if you are pleased with the results then a Tip is in order. Good Hairdo, Good Meal etc then a return visit is on the Cards.
When not satisfied complain !
Well I picked the salon I'm going to because I pass it quite a lot and it always seems fairly busy. Plus they have nice decor and the hairdressers mostly seem to have decent hairstyles themselves.
I go to the Toni and Guy school in central london. They advertise looking for models constantly on gumtree. Takes at least 2 hours, but is cut under very close supervision, and have always been very pleased. Totally free and no tips!
Lol! I spent it once and never again, I'd gone in for quite a large change in style and colour. And yes, it was by far the best colour I'd ever had and looked great and if I was a millionaire I would happily keep going to her. But I'm not so I won't. :c)
