Retrieving data from a mobile phone

Is it possible to retrieve deleted messages and photos from a mobile phone? I've deleted some numbers and photos that I could really do with getting back? Any advice welcome. Thanks.

(well unless you have access to a forensics lab)

Photos, possibly, depends if they were stored on a memory card or the phones internal memory.

If they were on a memory card (or possibly if the phone acts as a standard USB drive when plugged into a computer) the above may work.
