my hair is blonde with some greys, I would like to try a home hair dye have'nt done it myself for years, can anyone recommend a good one, would like to stay with a blonde colour just not sure which one to go for as there are so many of them. tia

I always used Movida before I decided to go to the hairdresser and treat myself. It gives quite a natural look. But dont forget you will get re growth ..

I'm not blonde but recently my friend home dyed my brunette hair (with greys) for the first time in my life.I used Garnier Nutrisse Ultra Colour and am really pleased with it. It's just as good as the hairdressers if not better and only cost a fiver compared to £40 plus.

I've started using the new mousse one from John Frieda, it's a bit pricier than the others but it's so much easier to use and it doesn't drip everywhere, so no mess. Nutrisse is another good one which I have used. Both cover grey very well, my hair is dark brown so I need a reliable one.

I changed to John Frieda Mousse about 4 months ago and love it. The colours are rich and it's really made my hair much smoother. I think I paid about £10 for the last one (off to Tesco's tomorrow to stock up!)

Sorry fruit hope you don't mind me asking but I'd be interested in what colours rocky and mazie used in the John Frieda.I fancy trying it for myself,assuming you've used dark brown.It's quite scary choosing a colour for me! Thanks if you can help

Barb, funnily enough I did mine yesterday and the box is sitting next to me, it's 4BG Dark Chocolate Brown. I just put the colour on the box up against my hair and it's a damned near perfect colour match, mine may be just a tad darker, but then my hair is quite dark to start with.

do the hair dyes they sell now give a highlighted effect rather than a block of colour only my hair has always been highlighted so it has various shades of blonde mixed in with some grey

I can also rwecommend the John Frieda mousse, it is very easy to use and gives a lovely tonal colour, none of the flat dull colour you get with some other dyes.

I used the 3VR shade (deep cherry brown) and will definitely be buying again when I need to do my roots. :)

You can get highlighted effects but you do have to do the work, you get a comb/brush thing, I wouldn't try it. Although the colours are block they seem to catch the light well which gives different depths of colour.

I use Nice N' Easy, my hair is blonde too, they have lots of nice shades, try Ash blonde first or a dark blonde rather than go too light at first. Try the non-permanent one first to see if you like it.
