You want help with an unknown computer, running and unknown version of Windows (or other OS) that won't connect to an unknown make and model of router?
Make and model of computer. Version of windows (preferably what, if any service packs for windows are installed as well) make and model of router and what type of wireless security you are trying to use (WEP, WPA, WPA2)
Because to be honest any answer anyone gives without the above information is going to be no more than a wild guess.

OK, to be honest, no not a lot, you still didn't actually answer most of the questions I actually asked.
But the first this I'd suggest trying is making sure that you have the latest service pack (SP3) installed for XP, as XP doesn't support WPA security without at least SP2 or later.
If you simply right click on my computer on the desktop or the start menu and select properties it will say which service pack level you are at.
If your problem is anything like mine which displays a blank box asking for ID and password. I ignore this and remove the box and request again. This time the box appears with the ID and password which of course I reconnect.
