I am a mild mannered, all embracing, loving kind of guy.
I am turned in to a raging, seething monster with an urge to kill whenever I see somebody blowing their nose through their fingers on the street. This blind fury will stay with me for hours.
Apart from killing the miscreant can you advise me how to cope? I don't want to go to prison.
Just to add that my comment about "immigrant sorts" was tongue in cheek. Someome somewhere else was suggesting that is was a particular "custom" overseas (which it may well be in some countries)
I can honestly see that this practice must be hygienic in countries with little water and washing facilities and no paper hankies. Surely everyone blew their nose in this way centuries ago? It is the most sensible and practical solution on bare earth in those circumstances.
Not so good in urban areas on tarmac or flagstones, though.
Barry for god's sake chill out ! People have the right to clear their nose - as long as it hasn't landed on anyone's clothing then it really is not a problem . If you don't like what you're seeing then look away .
Argos, today I had to pass a man on a narrow pavement who was hawking over a huge string of snot hanging from his fingers/nose when I was pushing a buggy and couldn't walk round the parked cars.
My stomach curdled.
Barry - only this week I too saw a middle aged man do this - calming walking down the street, O yuk it made me want to yell at him but in this day and age you don't know what he would do back to you .............. some people are absolutely disgusting specimens .....
thankfully I have never seen anyone do this!...........I don't think I could hold my tongue if I did!........It's disgusting, and there's no excuse for it either!.......
What I hate is seeing someone blow their snot into a hanky and then look to see what they have caught. Uuuurgggghhhhhh. Even though you can't see what they are looking at you just know its going to be gross and it makes me heave. Surely its possible to blow your nose and turn the hanky inwards to trap the offending snot without conducting a thorough investigation?
How come you can get fined if you drop a cigarette butt on the pavement but it's OK to deposit snot, which incidentally someone could slip over on? If one is against the law, so should the other be. Ugh disgusting.
