Laptop tips

My understanding is that the 'point' that actually plugs into the laptop is called the 'tip'. (Deeply technical, I know.) Is there a way/place to buy the tips on their own without buying a whole adapter. I have a 'universal' adapter with changeable tips - hope this makes sense.
