This is a tough one... A few years ago, Coronation Street ran a storyline involving Curly Watts having to perform some tasks in order to remain a member of The Weatherfield Square Dealers. Fred Elliot and Norris opened a sacred box to find out what the tasks should be. But can anyone remember what objects were in the box? I think there were six items (some of which I can remember but I don't want to reveal these and influence anyone's memory)

According to the Granada Studios Press Office, there wasn't a sacred box, but there was a Sacred Oath. It consisted of 49 tasks. Curly Watts was trying to become a memer of the Inner Rectangle. Norris and Fred Elliott thought he had broken the rules by supplying information about what went on to Jack Duckworth. He was (wrongly) found guilty and so had to perform some of the 49 tasks. The Manchester press office say there was no sacred box involved and their archives only show an Oath. The storyline ran at the end of 1995 - is this any help?

Thanks, but I can definitely remember Fred and Norris talking in hushed tones in The Rovers about what was in the box. (We never actually saw the box), but some of the objects they mentioned were "the great pen," and something like "the tablet." I think there may have also been a square as well. I'm sure that the problem was that the book of the oaths was missing so Fred and Norris took it upon themselves to make up some tasks for Curly to perform.
