Poker (Texas Hold 'Em) Scenario

First of all let me apologise in advance if this is not the correct section to ask such a question...

I have learnt how to play Texas Hold 'Em poker, and I have a scenario where I can't work out what would happen. For example..

{d=diamond, c=club, s=spades, h=hearts}

Say the river was: 3d 4d 5d 6d 7d

Player 1= 2d 3h

Player 2= 9s 10s

____________________________

Now, would...

a) the pot be split (i.e. both have 3-7 straight flush)

b) hand1 win (uses one of his pocket cards to form the flush, albeit lower)

or

c) hand2 win (3-7 straight flush - 10-high)

??????????

No guesses, I need a proper answer please, much apreciated,

only 5 cards are used, so once the community cards dealt out a straight that would be the winning hand, unless a player held a card that could make the straight higher.

in your example the pot would be split

but if one player held 8d then that would take the hand.

below is taken from texas hold'em 'how to play' and 'rules of play'

If there is no kicker card (the tied players have used both hole cards, or have the exact same five card hand), then the pot is split between them.

Incidentally Alex, you're using slightly incorrect terminology - the river is one card, not all the community cards.

The first 3 cards are called the FLOP

the next card is the TURN and

the final card is the RIVER

I've often wondered why there isn't a similarly catchy word for all five - as opposed to 'community cards'. Or is there?

I will make sure I don't use too many mistakes with my incorrect Poker terms - would be a slight indication that I'm a newbie...
