For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.if its reading it then there really isnt a problem as i dont believe that it will cause any damage.the data layer of discs is below the protective clear top layer which gets scratched therefore the laser is looking through this layer not at it.
you can get proper cleaning/repair kits if you wish but something i have used successfully in the past is brasso !
Haven't had a problem with my PS2 through playing scratched disks (two kids can really help to help scratch your games). If they do stop playing or are reguarly skipping or crashing Toys R Us can put them through a machine which takes a miniscual layer off the bottom to remove the scratches, better than forking out the price of a new game. (Don't ask them to do copies!)
