police tag on car
I have just been advised that my car had a Police Tag put on it 4 months ago. How long does this tag last and what actually does this mean? It was put on initially due to suspected drunk driver - not myself may I add..
thanks

I understood from that thread that this suspected drunk driver had driven the car whilst drunk but someone else had stepped in to say it was she not he who was driving.
Maybe it's a good idea then for the tag to remain for as long as possible?
Sorry I don't know how long these tags last but even without a tag you may find the police still keep an eye on it

Hi
Tag = 'information marker', in this case an 'overt' marker placed on the police national computer (PNC) warning police patrols that the car may be driven by a drink / drunk driver etc. This info is further placed on the automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) database for a time limit specified by the inputer

Hi aine
I have just re-read my previous post and I am now uncertain whether a drink driver warning marker can be placed on a vehicle on the PNC dabase. The info can certainly be entered on the ANPR network and local police intelliegence records etc.
There's no harm you making enquiries with your local police farcer but such infomation held by the Police is likely granted an exemption from disclosure by way of Freedom of Information reguest.
