And would like to ask for any advice on how to get another job from anywhere, as I would take anything that is going, even though I am a fully qualified mechanic.

Thanks sherrardk your positive attitude is most appreciated and it is the right attitude to take
id say at 46 it must be very difficult to be made redundant. and i can understand your frustration, nox had a good idea, i hope you find something suitable soon.
My OH was made redundant after being a test driver for Rover for years, he eventually got a job (at 58) as a valeter at a local garage, this was incorporated into odd job man and he stayed there for 7 years when he retired. He enjoyed the job and the fact there was no responsibility and could just come home. Keep looking seecse1 there will be something eventually.
I do hope you find another job soon, but I must admit to being at a bit of a loss on why this is happening.

I advertised a job for a Mechanical Engineer (admittedly Ships Engineer, so diferent quallifications) 6 weeks ago, I have put it with three specialist agencies, in the local papers, and on several jobsites on the net. How many applicants have I had so far...............NONE !!!!!!!

I am curently employing one of my retirees on a temporary basis, but he's only doing it as a favor.

Whats wrong guys!
